Frame loom

Scissors

Stick shuttle

Yarn for ground weft (plain weave)

Any type of yarn, for the rya knots

RYA KNOTS

In this sample, I wove two lines of plain weave at the beginning to provide a firm base for the rya knots to sit on.

1 After cutting some strands of yarn to the desired length, pick up four warp threads with your left hand. Place the yarn on top of the four warp threads so that the mid-point of the yarn is in the center of the raised threads.

2 With your right hand, tuck the right-hand ends of yarn under the two warp threads on the right. Pull the yarn up to the surface of the warp and leave to rest on the right-hand side.
