Ghost Eyes

A few minutes later I was home. No sign of Mom, so I took Lulu out for a quick walk and a long pee. Then I made myself some Swiss Miss and brought it upstairs to my room, where Cyrus was snoozing at the foot of my bed in the last little patch of afternoon sunlight.

I turned on my laptop.

First thing I checked, like always: Cat FX. But she hadn’t uploaded anything for two days. Oh well. Probably she was busy with whatever she did in her non-makeup life.

I searched for Thanos and Iceman. No how-to videos, so I looked up images. Yep, these were effects I could do, and I already had most of the products. Which was good; I felt funny about asking Kai’s dad to buy me things. Even if they were for Kai, not me.

I sipped my cocoa.

And typed: two different color eyes.

Heterochromia. A condition in which the iris is multicolored. In some cases the iris of one eye may be a different color from the other. Usually heterochromia is benign, and does not affect vision. Very rare in humans but often seen in horses, dogs, and cats.

In folklore: In Native American cultures, heterochromia, referred to as “ghost eyes,” is thought to give the possessor the ability to see into heaven. Eastern European pagan cultures considered heterochromia a sign that a newborn baby’s eyes had been swapped with the eyes of a witch.
