Religious Pluralism

“Isn’t religious preference just an artifact of where one grows up?” Someone born in Saudi Arabia, say, is much more likely to be a Muslim than a Christian. So doesn’t this mean that everyone who believes does so on account of how he or she was brought up rather than on account of what’s true? And if so, doesn’t that cast doubt on any religion’s claim to being true or at least on our ability to know if a religion is true?

Descriptive Pluralism: the belief that we should be tolerant of competing religions in order to get along with one another.
