CHAPTER FOUR
A strip of sunlight shone through a gap in the blinds of an unfamiliar window, waking me. At first I wasn’t sure where I was, but I felt amazingly good, far better than I should this early in the morning. An arm was wrapped around me and a soft body lay pressed up against my back. Suddenly it hit me. I was in Dana Marchant’s bed, and Dana Marchant was lying naked, holding me as she slept. Dana Marchant and I had made love over and over last night. Wow!
I luxuriated in the feel of her beautiful body holding mine in the amazingly soft sheets for a moment before coming to the conclusion that while last night was definitely the best night of my life, I needed to escape. Quickly, and quietly.
If she knew how I truly felt, she’d take advantage of me and I’d end up being another one of her girls. No matter what, I was never going to allow myself to be anyone’s plaything. I had to think of my career and my reputation. If I thought she was actually capable of falling for me, it might be different, but I knew her game. She was in it for the conquest, the thrill of the chase. She also had this kinky thing going on where she liked to awaken women who thought they were straight. Maybe she thought she was doing them a favour? Maybe she was? Reflecting on last night, she’d certainly done me a favour. Several of them, actually. I’d never had a night of sex like that before. I didn’t know I could be so excited that I actually couldn’t stop! I reflected with satisfaction that I hadn’t allowed her to be the one in charge last night. It must have been a new experience for her.
Mentally slapping myself for being distracted by thoughts of last night, I looked around carefully. My clothes were nowhere to be seen. Then I remembered they were downstairs in the lounge area. I slowly reached under the sheets and tried to remove her arm from around my waist. She murmured something incoherent and held me even tighter, her face snuggling into my shoulder. Sighing, I lay back and contemplated what would happen if I stayed. There’d be an amazing breakfast and then amazing sex. Or maybe the other way around. First sex, then food, then more sex. And probably another incredible night. I knew I’d be a mess by the time I had to go to the airport and get on the plane tomorrow. If last night was anything to go by, I’d be sore and stiff in all sorts of places as well as utterly exhausted. My trip to Hong Kong and Don’s account were far too important to risk. I had to get out now before I became lost in a haze of sexual obsession.
More determined this time, I reached down and lifted her arm as I gently slipped out from underneath it. Glancing at her sleeping form before I left, her sweet sleep-face, smiling slightly, burned a hole in my heart.
