Native, locally common, blooms mid summer, 2–16 in. Rocky sites, subalpine, high elevation
Subshrub, stems trailing to erect, not wiry, stipules deciduous. LEAVES deciduous, alternate, oval to lance-shaped, 0.2–1 in. long, midrib on lower surface non-hairy, edges rolled under, tip pointed, stipules 0.2 in. long. FLOWERS in few-flowered clusters in leaf axils, flowers bell-shaped, 0.2–0.4 in. long, tepals white to pink. FRUIT achene, brown, shiny. ECOLOGY grows in rocky or gravelly areas within lodgepole pine or subalpine forests.
