I decided to sew around the edges of each piece, purely for decorative purposes.

Now that your pieces are cut and ready, it’s time to attach them to your project using enough glue to create a secure hold and prevent any lifting along the edges. There may still be some warping or unevenness in the paper. To address this issue, I recommend placing the envelope under a heavy object, such as a book, for a few hours or overnight. This will help to flatten the paper and create a more polished finish.

STEP 3: PREPARING THE SIGNATURE

Moving on to the next step, it’s time to prepare your pages for binding into your book. Since this type of book doesn’t have a wide spine, it’s recommended to use only one signature.

Choose a selection of papers that you want to bind into your journal, and keep in mind that the thickness of the book will impact the functionality of the envelope flap closure.

If the book is too thick, the flap won’t close over the journal, so it’s best to err on the side of caution and limit the number of pages used.
