4.4.1 Motivation

The participants in all intervention groups received similar motivation session, which mainly served to promote awareness on the significance of low-carbon mobility and its positive contributions to the environment and society. The negative implications of carbon emissions from vehicles as well as how air pollution worsens the effects of global warming and climate change were described to the participants. In addition, they were also introduced to the various alternative travel options (as opposed to private vehicles) to realize low carbon mobility. Sustainable transports, such as the public transports (e.g. bus) and non-motorized transports (e.g. cycling and walking), were highlighted as the recommended travel options. Apart from that, the participants were required to discuss the effects of carbon emissions from the motor vehicles towards climate change and global warming based on the information provided on the distributed motivational pamphlet. The group discussion mainly aimed to transform the existing perspectives towards public transports among the participants. They were also prompted to adapt their travelling behaviour according to the provided guideline on reducing individual carbon footprint.
