4.2.2 Acoustic Design Aspects

After considering various acoustic design options (in terms of material, dimensions, and structure for the backing and quarter-wavelength matching layers), three different probe designs (see Fig. 4.1) were modeled, fabricated, characterized, and evaluated. A summary of the three designs is presented in Table 4.1 and these are further detailed in the next section.
