Using their Thinking function as mediator, Intuitive-Thinking types can plan, organize physical tasks, make lists, gather facts and set up a schedule. Intuitives are reassured when there is a plan. An Intuitive-Thinking type teacher and mother of three named Catherine managed her Sensation-intense home-life by cleaning a room a day. Monday, she cleaned the living room; Tuesday, the rec room, Wednesday the bathrooms, and so forth. Thursday, she also did the laundry. Saturday, she planned the next week’s meals and did the shopping. As for providing the family meals, she says, “Anyone who can read can cook.”

Neatness can be a hallmark of many Intuitive-Thinking types. Tidiness—”everything has a place and everything in its place”—is their bulwark against ever encroaching disintegration into unmanageable mess. Organizing the things in their environment is actually a talent. When an Intuitive named Rachel supervised extensive renovations of her New York apartment, the result appeared sleek, stream-lined and uncluttered. There were seven closets filled with hanging racks, built-in drawers, countless shelves, and vertical storage units. Kitchen cabinet doors hid hooks, shelves and lazy susans. Counter space was pristine, not an appliance in sight, as every gadget was put away in its designated place in this Intuitive-Thinking type’s dream kitchen.

The Feeling function can also mediate with the Sensation realm.
