16 Repeat this process to sew all large duck blocks, following the fabrics and number of blocks given in Fig G. Note: Duck 1A and 1B are the same, using the same fabrics, but duck 1B faces the opposite way. Duck 2A and 2B use the same fabrics, but duck 2B faces the opposite way, so take care when laying out the pieces for a block.

MAKING THE SMALL DUCK BLOCKS

17 There are twenty small duck blocks in the quilt, in two different colourways. Ten ducks face right and ten face left. Fig I shows the layout for a small duck block. For each block cut the following pieces (some used more than once).

a 11⁄2in (3.8cm) square.

b 11⁄2in (3.8cm) half-square triangle – made from 17⁄8in (4.8cm) squares.

c 11⁄2in x 21⁄2in (3.8cm x 6.4cm).

d 11⁄2in x 21⁄2in (3.8cm x 6.4cm).

e 11⁄4in (3.2cm) square.

f 41⁄2in x 21⁄2in (11.4cm x 6.4cm).
