WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• Amber/brown glass bottle with a dropper
• Funnel
• Rubbing alcohol
• Metallic acrylic paint (I used bright gold)
• Potion label printed on sticker paper (or regular paper and glue)
• Lighter
• Gold chain
• Pliers
• Tiger-eye crystal charms or other charms
• Extra jump ring
• Jute twine (optional)
How to make it
1. First, unscrew the dropper of your bottle and remove. Then use your funnel to fill the bottle with rubbing alcohol.
2. Once your bottle is filled, pour some of your gold metallic paint into the rubbing alcohol.
3. Screw the cap back on and shake until the paint is completely mixed into the alcohol and you get a great swirling effect.
4. Take your label, either printed on sticker paper or regular paper and carefully, and use a lighter to burn the edges. I recommend doing this outside. Be ready to blow the flame out pretty quickly, so you don’t overburn the edges. (If you have a Cricut you could have it cut a faux burn look and go around the outside edge with a brown marker to mimic the burn effect.)
5. Take your gold chain, measure out the length you want, and cut to size with the pliers. Then open up the end jump ring and attach your charm. In this case I used a tiger-eye crystal charm. When you are done both ends of the chain should have a charm.
6. Take an extra jump ring and use it to wrap the chain around the neck of the bottle. (It looks better to have your ends hang uneven rather than even.)
7. Once your chain and charms are in place, stick or glue your label onto the bottle.
8. To give a more complex look you can wrap the base of the dropper with jute twine. (See page 3, Wrapping the Neck of Your Bottle.) You can also use your lighter to carefully “age” the twine.
