83To Live Is to Die

Living and dying are not polar opposites, but lovers. To live is to die. To live is to forge ahead with courage, never knowing where your path is taking you, sometimes not even knowing if there is a path at all. To be pathless with courage, courageously pathless. To live is to risk, to let go of all ideas of what “should” have been, or “could” have been, or “might” have been, and fully embrace what is. To be stripped bare of illusion and to begin again in every moment. To dream, fantasize, even plan, but, simultaneously, to let go of those imaginary futures and deeply honor the living reality, bowing to its awesome power, prostrating yourself in front of its vastness.

To live is to die to the old dreams, the old ways, to allow the old fantasies and futures to be destroyed in Presence, to look deeply into the eyes of Source. To live is to die to all the images, pictures, dreams of who you thought you were, or who others thought you were, and to be what you are, here and now, without shame. To live is to let go of the story of “me,” the story of past and future and status and achievement and progress, and courageously open your heart wide to the living present. To be vulnerable, to trust, to surrender ego into the vastness of life itself. To be an ally of the great Unknown.

And to surrender your attempts to surrender, and to let go of your inability to let go, and to accept your non-acceptance. To live is to die to history, and to die to history is to be wide open to Presence as it burns, right now. To no longer be a wave separate from the ocean, to no longer live that illusion, but to be one with the ocean itself; to be an expression of the awesome power that gives birth to suns, grows the grass, and breathes every breath breathed. To die is to be fully alive, to be inseparable from life itself; no longer seeking truth, but being Truth, expressing Truth with every breath.

To die is to be holy, and to live is to be holy. Be holy.
