And what does the Bible say about the cross? Shouldn’t we strongly consider biblical passages and allow them to mold our view of the cross?

Here are a few: Galatians 6:14: But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. The Apostle Paul said he “boasted” about the cross, not despised it or saw it as some “torture stake”.

Colossians 1:19-20: For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross — whether things on earth or things in heaven. So here we see that peace was made between God and man through the cross!

Peter records this concerning the cross:

1 Peter 2:24: and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness ; for by His wounds you were healed. Peter states that via the cross we die to sin and then are to live in righteousness.

And finally in speaking to the Corinthians, Paul states this about the cross: 1 Corinthians 1:17: For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.

So the evidence is clear that while JW’s continue to hold the cross of Christ in

contempt, Paul and Peter found great peace and solace in what Jesus did for us at Calvary and so they “gloried” in the cross and so should you and I!
