FINDING HOPE IN KNOWING GOD IS MERCIFUL

At the same time God warns the people on planet earth in patient, progressive, paused,and precise judgments that they need to repent,He makes provision for them to turn to Him. Again and again, during the first three and a half years of the seven-year period of the Great Tribulation, God reaches out to the human race in mercy.

God’s Merciful Provision of 144,000 Preachers

Even as the world reels in chaos as the result of rebellion against God, in His great mercy God still makes provision for the human race to hear the gospel. He seals 144,000 Jewish evangelists who are supernaturally preserved to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ: “Another angel . . . having the seal of the living God . . . called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: ‘Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.’ Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel” (Rev. 7:2–4).

God’s sealed protection ensures that

armies cannot touch them,

floods cannot drown them,

fires cannot burn them,

famines cannot starve them,

torture chambers and concentration camps

cannot hold them, and

the secret police cannot hinder them!

They will be a constant reminder to Satan and the wicked world that Jesus Christ is in control.

These evangelists will be so effective in what they do they will be able to permeate the entire world with the gospel, producing a worldwide revival. Thousands will respond to their invitation to receive Christ as Savior and commit their lives to Him as Lord!

All through history, the times of greatest human suffering have seemed to produce the greatest revivals. The pressure of pain and persecution and suffering seems to drive man in desperation to God. And desperation is one of the prerequisites for revival!

How thrilling it will be as the 144,000 Jews pick up the privilege of world evangelization! Remember, God chose the Jews because He loved them.20 But increasingly, as He revealed Himself to them, they rejected Him. Their rejection climaxed when they instigated the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.21 For the last two thousand years, although a remnant of Jews has believed in Jesus Christ as their Messiah, Savior, and Lord, the majority have not. But in the future, the majority will not only believe in Jesus Christ; they will lead others to a saving knowledge of Him, to the glory of God!22

This unique, unparalleled revival yet to come will be a time of ecstasy and agony. The ecstasy will be experienced as thousands come to faith in Christ. The agony will be experienced as these new believers will be put to death for their faith: “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.
