Pyrethrum is extremely fast acting and very effective. Because this compound breaks down so rapidly, it’s only present in the area where it’s applied for a very short period of time.
This poison breaks down rapidly so is only toxic for a very short time. It’s very toxic to beneficial insects as well as pests, and some pests may have some resistance to it.
Used properly, this is an excellent “knock down” pesticide because it works rapidly to kill insects by messing up their nervous systems. This pesticide is often considered safe by gardeners, but it’s not completely safe and should be used with the same respect afforded to any potent poison.
