It was on Saturday, February 24th, 1877, the eighteenth anniversary of her clothing day, in the forty-ninth year of her age, that Sister Marie-Dosithée gently passed away. A supernatural confidence surrounded her to the end. "Oh Mother," she said to her Superior, "I can only love and trust and surrender myself. Help me to thank God for it."

During the preceding night, much moved, she had blessed from afar the two families at Alençon and Lisieux. Three weeks previously, she had written a last letter to her brother and sister, in which she had said, in particular:
