5 Use the chalk line as a guide and cut off the bottom of the dress.
6 Use a zigzag stitch to sew all around the new bottom raw edge of the dress.
7 Fold the hem under 1˝ toward the wrong side, pin if needed, and press.
8 Using matching thread, slipstitch the hem in place (see Slip Stitch).
I can hear a big sigh of relief and gratitude coming from this now-classy, professional, and modern little black dress that can be worn to work or for an evening out. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing the difference a few simple changes will make for an outfit.
