GATHERING MATERIALS FOR YOUR OWN EARTHSONG QUILT

FOUND OBJECTS: These can be found in the most unexpected places. I have tins full of broken glass, rusty bottle caps, old nails, keys, buttons, and anything else I think I might use one day.

THREADS: Experiment with different threads such as wool, perle cotton, embroidery floss, string, or even thin wire.

STITCHES: Play with a variety of embroidery stitches to see what suits your work. You could even use this project as a unique stitch sampler.

PAPERS: I use lots of different paper ephemera in my work. Often, the papers have been dyed or rusted first, then covered with a thin layer of shellac before attaching them to the fabric.
