♦ Plant reproduction and photosynthesis Introduce the following terms to the students and discuss their meanings: roots, stems, leaves, photosynthesis, flowers, pistil, stamen, fertilization, stigma, style, fruit, seeds. Draw a picture of a plant or flower on the whiteboard (or, if a document reader is available, project the outline of a plant onto the whiteboard). Using the vocabulary presented, have students identify each part of the plant or flower. Discuss how each part of a plant contributes to photosynthesis. Students may create a detailed poster of the parts of a plant or flower, complete with explanations. If you have a long-term assignment in the classroom, you may want to let students grow some plants, so that you can continue discussion about how plants grow.
