B Major

Continuing on with the circle of fifths, the next sharp key is B major and its relative minor, G-sharp minor. The new sharp added to this key signature is A-sharp, the seventh scale degree in B major. The five sharps in B major and G-sharp minor are: F-sharp, C-sharp, G-sharp, D-sharp, and A-sharp.

By now you have probably noticed the pattern in the addition of sharps: The new sharp is always a fifth above the previous sharp. For example, in the key of E major, the fourth sharp is D. B major uses the same four sharps in E major plus the new sharp A. A-sharp is a fifth above D-sharp.

Before playing the B-major scale, notice that the fingering in the left hand starts with the fourth finger. And watch out for those A-sharps!
