Closet Check

Do a quick evaluation of your closet. What do the items there really say about you? Do they lead others to respond to you with respect and to acknowledge your value as a person created in the image of God? If not, when you wear them, what message are you presenting to others? Do your closet items present the possibility of making others envy you? Become aroused by you? What message do you want to send? How can you protect your and others’ emotional purity?

No need to pull out a ruler and measure the hem lengths of your clothing! But you may want to take inventory of your inner thoughts and self-worth. Taking clothing choices out of the picture, how are you building your character to become a person who longs after the desires of God? How does that affect your choices?

Old fashioned attitudes about modesty could be pretty prudish and legalistic. In what ways can you incorporate the positive attributes of old fashioned modesty without becoming judgmental and harsh?
