HALDEMAN: Hunt’s visit.

EHRLICHMAN: That visit was to tell me that Hunt was going to testify on Monday afternoon.

NIXON: How does he know that?

HALDEMAN: Mm-hmm.

NIXON: How does he get such information?

EHRLICHMAN: Undoubtedly through Bittman.

NIXON: Right.

EHRLICHMAN: Or Bittman through Shapiro.

NIXON: Now why is Hunt testifying? Did he say? Or what—

EHRLICHMAN: He didn’t say.

NIXON: —he’s testifying about—

EHRLICHMAN: He said—I’ll tell you what he said and then I’ll tell you what I think the fact is. He said Hunt was testifying because there was no longer any point in being silent. That so many other people were testifying that there was no—he wasn’t really keeping any secrets.
