The Three Steles of Seth 1

Dositheos’s Witness to the Three Steles of Seth (118, 10–24)

Dositheos’s revelation of the three steles 2 of Seth, father of the living and unshakable generation. Dositheos 3 remembered what he saw, understood, and read, and gave it to the chosen, just as it was written there.

Often I have joined with the powers in giving glory, and I became worthy of immeasurably majestic things.

The steles read as follows:

The First Stele of Seth

Seth’s Hymn to Pigeradamas, the Divine Adam (118, 25–119, 15)

I praise you, father Pigeradamas, 4

I, your son Emmacha Seth,

whom you have engendered without procreation

for the praise of our God.

I am your son

and you [119] are my mind, O my father.

I have sown and procreated,

but you have seen majestic things

and have endlessly stood at rest.

I praise you, father.

Praise me, father.

Because of you I exist,

because of God you exist,

because of you I exist in the presence of that one.

You are light and see light.

You have revealed light.

You are a Mirotheid,

you are my Mirotheos. 5

I praise you as god,

I praise your divinity.
