Ren is standing over flattened soil and a pile of fresh buffalo dung. “Animals are clever,” he says.

“You see, chap, this lion is covering himself in dung!” says Alex.

“He might be masking his scent,” says Ren.

To me there is something beautiful about the image of this menacing killing machine pasting himself with dung like a sniper applying camouflage. The ground tells us the story of a lion that is now on the hunt.
