When you focus on the good in life, express gratitude, have faith, are kind, show love, and share your optimism with others, you give and receive a certain energy: You live in what I call “The Gratitude Cycle.”

When you focus on the bad, act impatiently, harbor grudges, complain often, speak ill of others, and languish in pessimism, you cultivate and feed another kind of energy. A life lived this way is one caught in what I call “The Garbage Cycle.”

You can choose where to place your attention in life. You are invited every day to live in The Gratitude Cycle and The garbage Cycle. There are powerful forces pulling you in both directions. It is up to you to decide which invitation you’ll accept.

After twenty years focused on living The Law of the garbage Truck, I am convinced that happiness and civility are only possible when we live in The gratitude Cycle and when we stay free of The Garbage Cycle.
