Fig. b. Two dots are shown, one on the right side on the top corner of the knee, and one on the left side at the start of the crease of the lower leg. Draw curved structure lines from these points to the dots at the width of the ankle and on to the foot.

Fig. c. Forms and light and shade added. It is necessary to overlap these forms to produce the feeling of recession. Certain lines are shown emphasized to produce projection.

going from the upper dots to the lower dots following the directions of the arrows.

Fig. 40a. Three steps explaining the drawing of the leg from the inside. Start the structure lines

Fig. b. The forms of the kneecap, gastrocnemius and heel are drawn as well as the indications of the fatty forms. Note how one relates the top of the kneecap to the top of the gastrocnemius muscle. This is a pretty constant relationship and is very helpful.

Fig. c. Forms are further developed. Shading is used to convey the shapes of the forms as well as to convey the overlapping of forms to produce the feeling of the leg receding. Hard thin lines are used on the light side to produce projection and as an accent underneath the

leg.
