Archie ignored her pleas and continued to excitedly lick-wash while barking and madly wagging his tail. Olivia opened her eyes to see Gabby and Lythari crying and smiling, which made them look a bit like circus clowns, Luella smiling happily just behind them and Huginn and Muninn flying and squawking above them all. Gabby and Lythari were both speaking at the same time, trying to tell Olivia how pleased and happy they were to see her.

Olivia sat up rather tentatively as her back still ached a little. “Thank you so much for keeping me going until it was time for me to return. You are all my best friends and I love you lots.”

Before she had time to say anything else, Archie jumped into her arms and started licking her again, which was the cue for all the friends to start laughing. After Luella had explained to the others that the disc had been given to Hector and the plan was for them all to return home, there was a big group hug.

“You use your helivator first,” Gabby said kindly.

“Just so we know that you got away all right,” Lythari added.

“We will see you again soon,” Luella said, “after you have had some rest and recovered from your ordeal.”

“Right,” Olivia agreed and picked up Archie, who was still extremely excited that his mistress had returned. “See you all soon for our next adventure,” and with that parting, Olivia pressed her helivator and was gone.

Lythari turned to Gabby and Luella. “Well that was a close thing, we nearly lost her.”

“I know,” Gabby replied thoughtfully. “Wherever we go next we must make sure that we take extra-special care of Olivia. Without her the History Sphere will never be complete but apart from that, something even more important is that we love her and do not want anything to harm her.”

“Agreed,” said Luella. “Now we must return to the Historeum, not only for a debriefing with Hector and the others but also to see if we can come up with some extra protection for Olivia and ourselves.”

As the friends left, they were unaware that the bodies of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators and the survivors of the firefight had been collected up. In London, the heads of Catesby and Percy were displayed on poles in order to demonstrate the failure of the conspiracy and the remaining plotters were put on trial, found guilty and executed. They could not possibly have known how famous this event in history would be, still commemorated after five hundred years on Bonfire Night!
