After school Mrs. Peters said she had some pictures and work and things that she wanted me and Suzanne to take home to give to Joe next time he came to his Mom’s.

Me and Suzanne put all Joe’s work up on the walls in the shed. There were paintings and drawings and poems and stories and collages and cutouts and math problems and everything. And they were all about his rabbit.

I said, “How are we going to get Joe-down-the-street back?”

And Suzanne looked at all Joe’s work on the walls. “I don’t know,” she said, “but it’s got to be something to do with the New Rabbit.”
