Chapter Thirteen

Levi I broke the kiss and gripped Darius’s hair in both hands. Our foreheads touched, and we panted against each other’s lips. We both shook with…with…I didn’t know. Interrupted fury? Unexpected lust? Some undefined energy that needed an outlet before someone went up in flames? I didn’t know if I wanted to rip his flesh or his clothes.

“This is so…” I released a breath, shivering when it ricocheted off his lips and warmed my own. “This is so wrong.”

“Everything leading up to this has been wrong.” His hand tightened around the back of my neck, and his lips brushed mine. “If this is wrong…” He finished the thought with a deep, aggressive kiss. I returned it, and I let myself get lost in it.

Fingers raked through hair. Breath came in sharp gasps and left in huffs that rushed across skin. When his erection pressed against mine, I groaned into his kiss and gripped his hair, refusing to let him pull back.

He didn’t object. His body weight kept me pinned to the wall, and his kiss was angry, hungry, demanding, pleading. Everything his kiss demanded, I gave him, because I needed it too. It didn’t matter why. Or why not. It just…it…nothing mattered. Nothing except here, now, this and us.

Darius grabbed my hair and pulled my head back as far as the wall behind me would allow. I moaned, struggling just to draw breath, and when his lips grazed my throat, I couldn’t breathe at all. I gripped his shoulders and closed my eyes. His mouth and breath were hot on my neck, his grasp on my hair unrelenting as his other hand slid under my shirt. My heart pounded, blood thundered in my ears, and—

His mouth. My neck. Just a thin layer of flesh dividing my blood from his teeth.

My eyes flew open, and an icy shudder brought me partway back to reality.

“What’s wrong?” he murmured.

“My…neck.” I swallowed, shuddering again when my throat pressed against his lips. “It’s…”

“Sorry.” He didn’t question me. He raised his head and found a much less disconcerting place for his mouth: against my own.

I freed his shirt from his jeans, and we both gasped when my palms slid up his sides. I’d never even considered that a vampire’s body could be just as hot as that of a wolf or a human, but his skin damn near sizzled against mine. The warmth was intoxicating. Dizzying. Not nearly enough.

I shoved him back enough to break the kiss, and pushed his shirt up and off. Darius threw it aside, and as soon as it was out of the way, he pinned me against the wall again. Before our lips met, though, I bent to kiss his neck. His fingers dug into my shoulders, and he wasn’t nearly as concerned about my mouth on his throat because his other hand kept a firm, still, don’t you dare stop doing that grip on the back of my neck.

“Tell me…” He forced a sharp breath through clenched teeth. “Tell me this place has…a bedroom.
