LOOK AT THE TIMES

If we are truly moving into the final days before Jesus returns, then everything I am writing is of vital importance. My hope and prayer is that we will all be prayerful about its content. None of us can tell for sure if we are the last generation on earth before Jesus returns. But I also think it is fair to say that we are definitely close to these times, which is all the more reason why we need to prepare ourselves.

Jesus tried to prepare us through various warnings, earthly signs, and shakings. He said there would be earthquakes, famines, and pestilences, as well as rumors of wars (see Luke 21:5-37). The year 2011 alone witnessed more natural disasters than in any previous year on record according to the Obama Administration and ABC News;1 not to mention that the Washington Monument was severely damaged in the August earthquake. We must be blind if we can’t see that something is definitely happening in the earth today, signifying it is the end times.

Aside from the most devastating natural disasters, we have also been affected by several pestilences with thousands of dead fish and birds showing up all over the globe.2 This has really caught my attention in light of Jesus’s prophecies about pestilences in the last days. These, Jesus said, “are the beginning of birth pains… but the end will not come right away (Mark 13:8; Luke 21:9). It seems as if now we have entered this prophetic age that He foretold. Even as I was working on the final edit of this book in the spring of 2012, right before Passover, swarms of locusts by the billions hit different parts of the world in Egypt, Israel, and Madagascar.

It’s simply not possible for us to always understand events and catastrophes, but this does not mean that we should not be willing to look. Times and dates are important and highly significant to G-d, and sometimes they can be clearer than at other times. We must also act carefully in how we discuss them, because through every catastrophe innocent people are involved, so we must show compassion and mercy more than anything else. However, these things will take place and shakings will come because of the imperfect, sinful world we currently live in.

Let’s also take a look at a couple of other events that I believe to be relevant to this new prophetic era. These have already begun and have already occurred, interestingly enough, on two of the Jewish feasts.
