You need to come to some sort of arrangement concerning the wedding planning with your mother-in-law early on. You can’t leave the wedding planning up for grabs and suddenly announce—after she’s done all the work, and when the wedding is next week—that you had every intention of getting involved.

Chances are, if your future mother-in-law has put a lot of time and money into planning your wedding, your bride has allowed this to happen, too—which means you’re not going to get much in the way of support from her if and when you decide to voice your opinion on the reception hall your mother-in-law has her eye on.
