This is a standard Polka or Two-Step groove written in 4/4, and is arguably the most common Gospel drumming pattern. Tempo is quarter note = 192–280 bpm.

VARIATION 2 (CD 2, Track 80)

Though many Gospel grooves are frequently played with a double-time feel, a Standard Rock Beat is often employed. This same groove may be used for slower ballads as well. Refer to the Rock chapter for more variations, keeping simplicity in mind. Quarter note = 60–200 bpm.
