According to many physical anthropologists, humans are the most likely of all species to retain childlike qualities into adulthood—and this is a good thing!35 It means we get to continue to play. Play you should, especially in front of your child. If you don’t have enough play in your life, reintroduce it. Take a music lesson, dance class, play a game you love on a regular basis, garden, hike, or simply explore for fun. The important thing here is to show your child that you, too, value exploration, play, creativity, trial and error, and fun!
