Plantain-Infused Lavender Soap

VEGAN • BODY • FACE • GENTLE • FLORAL

Plantain—the herb, not the banana-like fruit—is a wonderfully healing natural remedy. You may have some growing in your backyard. It is edible and tastes like spinach, but more bitter. It’s skin-soothing and perfect for a gentle bar of soap. If you’d like to add a black charcoal line between layers, refer to here.

YIELD: 1,293 grams | 10 bars (129 grams each)

START TO FINISH TIME: 1 hour to create soap, 24 to 48 hours to saponify, 4 weeks to cure

SCENT: Lavender

LYE DISCOUNT: 5%

SAFETY FIRST: Remember to wear goggles and gloves. Mix the lye solution in a well-ventilated area with access to a sink for flushing with water if necessary. Keep your work space free from distractions, small children, and pets.
