On wire mesh. Scrape out or dig a one or two-inch deep hole that matches the diameter of your bin. Place a wire mesh slightly larger than the base of your bin. One or two bricks or stones in the hole could nicely keep your mesh from sagging under the weight of the compost bin. The wire mesh can help keep unwanted vermin out from your compost.

On paving. If it does not disturb or alter the looks of your courtyard too much, remove some of the paving. The leachate or liquid that seep out of the bottom of the compost bin may stain whatever is beneath it. Alternatively, keep the paving intact but construct a small raised bed. Line several bricks or similar-shaped rocks in a circle or square. Fill it with a mixture of soil, gravel or other coarse and porous material. This improvised bed will contain the leachate from your bin. It is also a nice, cozy home for earthworms and other soil-dwelling critters. This method also works well if you must put your bins on concrete.
