Wrists were slowly lifted and positioned over Ajali’s body. Blood gushed from the body into the wounds on his chest and hips. Life pulsed inside of him.

Absorb my blood, mate. I will free you from this body that confines you, and we will bloodlet together.

Pleasure hummed, deep and abiding. Yesssssss. I have found my mate. Trapped. But I will free us both from the shackles of humanity and these feeble bodies. Oh, so glorious, to be free.
