Use scents that make sense.
Itâs estimated that perfumes, body sprays, and other personal scents typically contain a dozen or more potentially hazardous synthetic chemicals, including petrochemicals, which are derived from petroleum and create greenhouse gases.12 Itâs hard to do the research on your favorite scent, though, because fragrance companies arenât legally required to disclose the ingredients in their products. The good news is that there are an increasing number of companies devoted to creating natural scents from sustainable ingredients, in recyclable and refillable packaging, with fully transparent ingredient lists. Whether you choose fragrances made from essential oils or ones that come in solid form in recyclable tins, your signature scent should make you feel as great as you smell.
