What had she agreed to?

She looked around as she followed Kendall inside the warehouse. Kendall had promised that every lesbian in Denver would be there, and so far, that promise looked to be about right.

"Okay, so this venue is set up kind of weird," Kendall yelled over the music as they walked in. "This first room is the popular music room," she said. She pointed to one side. "And through that door is the hip hop room." She pointed to the other side. "And through that hallway is the oldies side. And when I say oldies, I mean, like the 80s and 90s."

"Oh, yeah, that sounds best," Joey said, taking a step in that direction.

Kendall grabbed her arm. "Nope, that's not what we're here for. You want a one night stand? Get thee to the hip hop room."

"Why?" Joey asked, glancing toward the archway where Kendall had pointed.

"Because how do you dance to hip hop?" Kendall asked, looking at Joey as though she was slightly dense.

"Oh, yeah, that checks out," Joey said, shrugging. "Anyway, first step, alcohol."

Kendall laughed and they made their way to the bar on the opposite side of the room. Kendall leaned on the counter, her shoulders looking incredible in the tank top she had chosen, and her hair perfectly messed as though she had just gotten out of bed looking flawless.

How did she manage to look completely irresistible at any given moment?

Envisioning running her hands through Kendall’s messy hair sure wasn’t helping with that Friends Only thing.

Joey had, as instructed, worn a dark t-shirt that was low-cut and fitted, tight dark jeans, and heeled ankle boots. Kendall had sent her back inside her apartment to change shoes when she saw that she was wearing sneakers.

Joey looked around as they waited for the bartender to make her way down to them. It was dark — how was she supposed to meet anyone in there?

Kendall nudged her. "What about her?" She said, nodding casually to someone on Joey's other side.

Joey glanced at the woman, who was attractive, but looked a little... young.

"She doesn't look like she's even old enough to drink," Joey said out of the corner of her mouth.

Kendall rolled her eyes.

Joey looked down at the other end of the bar. So many long-haired butches in snapbacks. Who thought that wearing a hat to a club was an attractive idea?

And yet... some of them really did look good in it...

Why did she imagine none of them had bed frames, just mattresses on the floor? Maybe even posters tacked on the walls?

"Lower your standards," Kendall said, raising her eyebrows as she leveled her with a stare. "It's a one night stand for a reason. Just have good sex and then walk away."

Joey grinned and nodded in an effort not to grimace.

Kendall ordered them each a vodka soda and a shot of whiskey. Both came in plastic cups. Kendall handed her the shot and raised it in a cheers, waiting until Joey did the same.

Alright, liquid courage might help.
