The background to this conversation is that I set up a date and everything was booked in. Then, with one hour to go, she cancelled on me. Her excuse is that she is sick. However, she previously told me that the night before she had enjoyed a big night out on the town and was feeling rather sorry for herself on the day of our date. Cancelling on me one hour before with this poor excuse was not acceptable. So, I vacuumed for the rest of the evening and all of the following day. With the void now created, she was no longer receiving any attention from me and doesnât like it. Fearing loss, she filled the vacuum with a feeler message to see if Iâm still there. I responded with this picture of a dog, exhibiting my dissatisfaction with her. Worried that she has ruined the relationship, she invested heavily in the conversation to try and recover the situation. I then reward her with a simple photo ping of a glass of wine at dinner, showing her that Iâm enjoying myself and inviting her to re-join the conversation and, more importantly, to realign herself with my frame.
Vacuuming directly supports frame control over text message. If she is willing to operate within your frame and generally behave herself then there are no issues. However, if she starts playing games or messing you around she is directly challenging your frame, either in an attempt to seize it from you or to not comply with it. And you donât have frame if thereâs no one operating inside it. The setting for your frame in such scenarios is that you are a cool, high-value guy but you have your limits and wonât be messed around. If she does mess you around she will get the silent treatment from vacuuming. This will either correct her behaviours and she will come back into your frame or she will identify herself as a time waster and you need to move on. Vacuuming is a great tool for filtering out women who are not interested in you which makes your text messaging far more efficient. Iâm sure we all know guys who have been messaging a particular girl for years. The messaging stream is fun and flirty and there is a suggestive air of optimism about a possible meet up, but that date will never come, and she will always have an excuse. Donât waste your time on these women. Screen them by vacuuming and move on.
Now, what about the texting window of opportunity you told us about in chapter 2.6 I hear you cry! If I vacuum, wonât this window close and all will be lost? There is some truth in this, however, you wouldnât vacuum if things were going well, and actually, to take a risk in this way and vacuum can buy you more time in the long run. If you vacuum and she doesnât step forward and fill the void, you have just filtered her out and you were climbing the Texting Ladder to nowhere.
