Place the seam on the instep, where it will be least visible, and keep the overlapping ends of the fabric as short as possible. Also try to avoid overlapping when cutting and gluing the flaps.

Platforms

Platform soles can be made using the basic card stock structure. Make a separate platform part, glue it under the toe part and then cover the sides with leather, fabric, etc. The platform part can be made of various materials, for example, wood, cork, modeling clay, resin, or plaster.

To make the structure sturdier, you can use some extra layers of card stock that go underneath the arched part and then down behind the platform part as shown in the next picture. You can make a pattern for this piece by modifying the sole pattern.
