Chapter 15

Taylor was so excited that she was finally going to meet Lancelot, that she completely forgot she was mad at Philip. The day had gone painstakingly slow, and she was glad when the school bell finally rang, signaling the end of the day. She hurriedly closed up her laptop and slipped it into her oversized purse. She was anxious to hear from Lancelot and wondered why he was taking so long to respond.

But she had nothing to worry about, she told herself. This man had already said he wanted to meet her and possibly have a baby with her. She had no idea what he looked like, but she had a good feeling that this was going to work out perfectly.

“My, you’re in a hurry today,” said Philip, getting up and putting on his coat.

“Just excited,” she said. “I can’t believe Lancelot hasn’t emailed back yet.”

“Maybe he’s busy, or waiting for the right time.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right.”

“Excuse me, Principal?” Mrs. Rainer, stood at the door to the office.

“Yes?” both Philip and Taylor said at the same time.

“I meant Principal Philips, Mr. Taylor,” said the secretary.

“Wow, this really is confusing,” said Taylor with a giggle. “Maybe I should have everyone call me by my middle name instead. At least I know that couldn’t be the same as yours,” she said, looking at Philip.

“Don’t count on it.” He threw his scarf around his neck, and she thought he looked so sexy. Most guys didn’t wear scarves even in the middle of winter, but for some reason Philip could pull it off.

“Now you’re being silly,” she said. “My middle name is Beth, and I know that’s not your middle name.”

“His is Bethsaida,” came a voice from the door, and Taylor looked up to see Philip’s brother, Andrew, standing there.”

“Mr. Andrew Taylor is here to see you,” said the secretary, leaving the office and going back to her desk.

“Bethsaida?” She laughed and looked over to Philip who didn’t seem amused. “What kind of name is that?”

“Andrew. So nice to see you,” said Philip before he answered. “My father gave me the middle name of the town that the apostle Philip was from. It is Bethsaida.”

“So, you see, he is a Beth after all,” said Andrew, busting out laughing.

“Andrew, I thought you were going back to Reno to tie up some loose ends and finish moving your things to Sweet Water. Shouldn’t you be gone by now?” asked Philip.

“I’m going, brother, don’t get your panties in a knot. I’m leaving tomorrow, so I thought I’d come by and get Taylor and take her to the Man Cave for some beer and nachos tonight.”

“It’s a school night,” he growled. “She’s not interested in a drinking party.”

“We’re watching the playoffs and we’re going to start placing bets on which team will win the Super Bowl.”

“Oh, I love football. I’d love to come to the Man Cave tonight, Andrew,” she answered, looking over and trying to decipher if that made Philip jealous or not. Either way, she didn’t care.
