Chapter Six

Felix did end up going back to his own place after the cheese on toast, but only because if he didn’t get out of there he knew he wouldn’t be able to resist seducing Andrew again, and he wanted to give the guy a bit of space. Let him get used to this whole sex thing gradually, rather than taking him from zero to a hundred in a couple of days. Plus, Andrew had been awkward around the girls, who had all homed in on the kitchen as soon as they started grilling cheese, and Felix didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable.

But the next evening found Felix waiting outside the textile block, smoking a cigarette, and trying not to look too fucking desperate, despite the way his dick kept stirring at the mere thought of seeing Andrew again. “Down, boy,” he whispered when he caught sight of Andrew through the glass-panelled doors.

By the time Andrew was outside, Felix was leaning nonchalantly against the wall, his hips thrust forward, the offending cigarette extinguished, and an open can of Fanta in its place.

“Hey, babe, how’s things?”

Andrew raised an eyebrow. “Things are fine. Especially now.”

“Oh yeah?” Felix grinned like a loon as he caught Andrew giving him the once over, his gaze lingering in all the right places. Felix’s dick did its leaping to attention thing again, and this time he didn’t try to dissuade it.

“So,” Felix continued, as Andrew seemed perfectly happy just checking out his package, “you have any plans for tonight? I thought you might like a curry, seeing as how I owe you for the cheese on toast.”

“You want to go out somewhere?” Andrew creased his brow. “Have a meal together, in public?”

“No need to make it sound like such a trial.”

“No! It’s not that. I’ve just…I’ve never been out anywhere with a man before. Like a date, I mean. I always thought that the first time I did—”

“It would be with your fantasy husband. Right. I getcha.” Felix squashed down the irrational hurt, because it wasn’t like he wanted a relationship with Andrew or anything. He was saving that for Saul, just like Andrew was saving himself for this imaginary Mr. Right, with the steady job and the two point four fucking poodles. “Look, no need to panic. I didn’t mean going to a restaurant anyway. I live over a curry house, don’t I? We can just get a takeaway and eat it on my bed.”

“On your bed?”

“We don’t all have kitchens with proper tables in, you know. I’m in a bedsit.”

“Oh. A bedsit.” Andrew looked like Felix had suggested he come back to some flea-pit hotel that charged by the hour. It stung. Felix might not have a swanky place, but it had a stunning view and he was proud of what he’d done with his room.

“Look, forget it. This was a bad idea. You probably want to get home to your sewing.” Felix started to walk away, determined to keep his cool despite the bitter disappointment rising in his throat.
