Because of another parent’s affiliation with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries (PPG, http://corporate.ppg.com/Innovation/Science-Education.aspx), the school secured additional funding for a hands-on science program about robotics. This has become an annual event where students attend an interactive assembly in the morning followed by hands-on learning stations in the afternoon. Stations are facilitated by parents and community members. Each year the topic focuses on one aspect of science: color and light, conservation, geology, robotics, and so forth.
