PLANTING AND CARE

MIDSPRING

Prepare the beds. About one month before your last frost, prepare the beds. If starting from scratch, use a spade or shovel and digging fork to remove grass and weeds from the beds. Evenly distribute the compost over the beds, and sprinkle on a moderate dusting of organic fertilizer. Check soil moisture, and whenever the soil in your garden is dry enough to crumble easily when dug, use your preferred digging tool to mix the compost and fertilizer into the top 10 inches of soil.

Plant onions and herbs. Set out onions in a grid pattern in Bed 2 and plant parsley and Greek oregano in Bed 1.
