TOOL CARE

Properly cared for, gardening tools can last decades. Clean tools right after you finish working in the garden. Hose them off or brush off dirt, but don’t store them wet. Don’t leave tools out in the rain; store them in shed or on a wall under an overhang. Last, use tools only for the purpose they’re intended.

TOOLS FOR THE PROJECTS IN THIS BOOK

In addition to basic gardening tools, you’ll need some basic woodworking tools to create some of the projects that follow.

Hammer: A basic claw hammer is useful for putting together structures such as raised beds and trellises. Find one that is sized correctly for kid-sized gardeners.
