lǐbài 禮拜/礼拜 worship; week (traditional word for xīngqī)

It’s not appropriate to go to worship in Levi’s. But the tribe of Levi in ancient Israel were those who oversaw worship in the temple.

lǐbài is said with the third tone/low rising tone followed by the fourth tone/falling tone. In worship, you bow your head in prayer, then nod in agreement with the minister’s sermon.

禮/礼 This character means “ritual.” It has the “God” radical on the left. The phonetic on the right side contributes to the meaning. It shows two hands at the top placing a ritual vessel (豆) on an altar. The simplified character replaces the meaningful phonetic with a hook. Ritual is the ceremonial hook that brings us closer to God.

拜 This character means “pay respects to” or “to show obeisance.” It depicts two hands pressed together in worship.
