BEFORE AND AFTER EACH ROUTINE
THE SLEEKIFY WARM-UP: Instead of immediately throwing punches and jumping rope, you have to do what I call a “stim” stretch (short for stimulation stretch) warm-up. The brief, nine-move, full-body warm-up you’ll do before each session of Sleekify really isn’t a stretching session as much as it is an awakening of your body.
Your muscles need to be reminded that they are about to participate in fast exercise. Picture a cat waking up from its nap. It stretches, then slowly begins to move, until eventually, it’s able to react and move at high speeds. Being able to move your joints through their complete range of motion will improve your overall performance in Sleekify, as well as improve your coordination and balance.
The Sleekify Cooldown: After you finish the workout, you’ll also be asked to do a short cooldown routine. As much as you might want to skip this part—either because you’re tired from the routine or feel a cooldown is not important—don’t!
Stretching after you Sleekify (when your muscles are warm and pliable) will help loosen your ligaments (which naturally tighten after exercise) and make you less susceptible to strains and cramps. Your muscles will recover faster when you’re at rest, so you stay on target to meet all of your exercise goals. It also helps improve and achieve a fuller range of motion, which is something most people lose as they get older.
