Sustainable ingredients

As an Australian business owner and scientist, I owe it to my earth, and to you awesome people, to be mindful of every ingredient I formulate with. Ethics and safety are paramount.

Bioidentical ingredients

In the past decade scientists have come a long way in their creation of new bioidentical ingredients, and this is where I come back to my ‘natural is not always best’ mantra.

If we know that a specific ingredient sourced from nature is having a positive effect on the skin, and it’s backed by data, then I believe it’s more ethical to attempt to copy this active molecule in the lab than to pillage the land or sea for the natural ingredient. Creating these synthetic copies, which are identical to what nature created, doesn’t put any stress on our environment and doesn’t interfere with the delicate ecological chain. Synthetic is often more sustainable. Plus, creating synthetic bioidentical copies in labs also means that the ingredients will be 100 per cent pure, and won’t contain any potentially undesirable contaminants. Win–win!
