Seepage Wells

Over one bit of survival literature advises that it’s smarter to drink untreated water than to bite the dust of thirst. That’s debatable; petrochemicals and other poisons found in urban floodwaters can cause genuine illness with no one else, and having a parasite under conditions that already tax real resources as far as possible can be lethal. The best game-plan is to endure neither disease. Two L-shaped wires placed into PVC tubes and kept parallel to the ground traverse underground water sources where it may be suitable to burrow or drive a well. They have used seepage wells since the main human settlements were fabricated. Referred to in legend as a village well, the nexus of community tattle, or in fables as a “wishing well,” the seepage well is essentially an opening burrowed straight down to the water table. Just like a springhead, water that fills the bottom of the good pit is cold and portable because it has been filtered through many tons and feet of soil where no parasitic organisms can live.
