It’s a trap.

Ren tried hard to catch his breath and organize his thinking. Rachel was lying naked in his bed, proposing a devil’s bargain: sex, for this night only. He barked out a laugh. “I know that feeling.”

“If anything, maybe it’ll help clear my mind.” She looked innocent… right up until she arched her back, her breasts thrusting out towards him as she smiled coyly.

She seemed to take that in. Her expression softened, and she raised one hand to stroke the side of his face. “No, you’re not a kid,” she said. “You’re right. We should be circumspect.”

He felt both elated and disappointed. Then she leaned up and kissed him, a gentle kiss that grew in intensity.

“I won’t hold this against you,” she said against his mouth. “I promise. You won’t lose me over this.”

His control snapped with those few words. He groaned, deepening the kiss, covering her body with his. She felt like she was on fire, her breasts crushed against his chest, her nipples dragging against his pecs as she squirmed beneath him. Her hands smoothed across his back, then trailed up his sides until she shimmied and wove her fingers in the back of his hair.
